Police Confront Black Man for Picking Up Trash at His Home

Boulder, Colorado, police have launched an investigation into a video that surfaced showing a white police officer pulling a gun on a black man who was picking up trash at his own home. The officer approached the man, who was holding a bucket and a trash picker, and the “suspect” responded that he lived at the residence and was picking up trash. When the man complained, “You’re on my property with a gun in your hand threatening to shoot me because I’m picking up trash?” the officer called for backup, and eight police officers swarmed the scene.

As the incident escalated, one officer can be heard on the video saying, “My plan is not to shoot you.” When police realized that the man actually did live at the property and wa sjust picking up trash, another officer said, “We’ve decided we’re going to end things at this point,” and the police left the scene.
