The Udas Temple is a place where the rich history of Atreia and the ongoing struggles against the Balaur intertwine with the technological marvels of the long-lost Jotun race. Udas Temple serves as a gathering place for a fanatic group who worship the Balaur Lords. This Temple is divided into two floors, a lower floor and an upper. The lower floor, found in the Dungeon instance of Lower Udas Temple is significant in the lore of Aion because of its connection to the Jotun. The Jotun are a unique and ancient race that were created directly by Aion. The Jotun have developed some incredibly advanced technology and are some of the most devout of the Aion worshippers. Jotuns create Petraliths. Petraliths are massive Golem-like creatures that are forged primarily from rock and stone.
In the Lower Udas Temple players will find a Jotun Studio where the Jotun are working diligently to create more Petraliths. This studio is crawling with Balaur warriors who seek to exploit or corrupt the Jotun’s technology. Through the multiple quests for this instance, it becomes clear that it is up to the Daevas of Aion to prevent this powerful Jotun technology from falling into the wrong hands. Daeva’s must work together to disrupt the Balaur operations and recover the Jotun technology.
At the end of the journey through the Lower Udas Temple, Daevas come to a final boss encounter with Debilkarim the Maker. Debilkarim is a legendary blacksmith. His association with the Jotun in a place where the Balaur forces are fighting so fiercely for control of the Jotun technology strongly suggests that he is actively working together with the Balaur.
